January 10-21, 2015
Scottsdale, Arizona
Application Deadline:June 21, 2014
APPLICATION

The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) will conduct the tenth Clinical Trials Methodology Workshop in January 2015. This intensive 61/2-day workshop is intended for faculty members and fellows in radiology, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine academic departments. Investigators with an MD or PhD degree are eligible to apply. Applicants should be in, or planning to enter, a career track that will permit them to be a Principal Investigator on a clinical trial. Participants will learn how to develop protocols for the clinical evaluation of imaging modalities. Familiarity with basic concepts and techniques of statistics and study design is needed for all applicants. Applicants will undergo a competitive selection process for entrance into the course. Once admitted, the workshop trainee will participate in advance preparation, didactic sessions, one-on-one mentoring, small discussion sessions, self study, and individual protocol development. Topics covered during the course will include principles of clinical study design, statistical methods for imaging studies, design and conduct of multi-institutional studies, and regulatory processes. Over the course of the workshop, each workshop trainee will be expected to develop a protocol for a clinical study, ready to be undertaken or to be included in an application for external funding.

Each participant must complete an application and obtain from his or her department leadership a letter including the following items and supporting the following statements:

  • A description of the length, time, and the capacity in which the writer has known the trainee
  • Time off to attend the course
  • A commitment to make every reasonable effort to enable the trainee to conduct a clinical trial based on the protocol produced at the Workshop
  • A commitment to provide the financial support necessary (hotel, transportation and three evening meals) for the trainee to attend the Workshop (all other on-site costs other than housing will be paid by the RSNA)
  • A commitment to participate in the long-term evaluation of the Workshop by reporting the results of the trial conducted by the trainee to the organizers and by responding to questionnaires that may be submitted by the organizers

Applications must be submitted electronically. For more information, contact Rachel Nelson at 1-630-368-3742 or rnelson@rsna.org.
